Randomly came across this photo and thought that the sunglasses looked familiar. Looks like he got his hands on a pair of vintage Alitalia aviators that we had in stock over a year ago. There might be a pair left in the warehouse for anyone interested…
We recently put out a case of new sunglasses from Initium with some 20 styles and colors. There are quite a few styles and a variety of pricepoints. The quality on these things is head and shoulders above almost all of the ‘luxury’ brands out there. The reason for this, and what most people don’t know, is that almost all of luxury brand sunglasses are produced by a licensee, who just cranks out tons of sunglasses and slaps whatever logo on the side (that’s why they alway seem to last about 3 months).
Initium on the other hand has all their frames made in Italy using the finest acetates (plastic) and professional-grade optics (They were one of the first to introduce gradient polarized lenses). Take one look through these things and you will be blown away by what you have been missing. Here is a pic they just sent me of Matt Damon on the set of a new, yet-to-be-named movie wearing the Morning Glory sunglasses:
Hold on to your seats, because next month the shades to end all shades will be making a stop at Centre. We might have mentioned these a while back, but here are some more ‘looks’. Every color of the rainbow, Zeiss Lenses, premium Italian acetate and hinges. Your fakes (come on, we all have a pair) from Urban Outfitters are shaking in their boots!!!
Last Thursday, DJs Klever and Caleb Guage stopped through town while playing a gig at Suite. Really nice guys with some dope style - check out Caleb with the new Insight tee he picked up:
You can download Klever’s latest mix, Ski Mask Way, HERE.
Don’t follow The Hundreds site too closely, but I really like their Photobooth section of the page. Check it out and see if you can spot someone you know. Looks like Mos Def rolled through recently:
Don’t you just love it when your fashion statements are validated by celebrities? It gives you that warm fuzzy feeling. If you are one of those, then here is some validation:
It’s pretty hard to tell what brand of shirt he’s wearing, but the folks over at WeAreTheMarket have posted this:
Kanye West has developed a reputation and stylesetter thanks to his keen knowledge of fashion and fearless approach to his personal haberdash. We spotted this pic of Kanye sporting Penfield’s Chatham plaid shirt during a recent match of Connect 4 for Beyonce. (They’re just like US!)
Oh yeah, we still have three in stock at the shop…
Have you seen Chris Brown’s new video? This is what perplexes me about the fashion industry. How is Chris Brown rocking the new Staple Fall 07 Varsity Pigeon Jacket in his video before I even have it for myself!? Dammit…I always get shafted. Well, enjoy the video. This kid can cut a rug.
Haha. Once again, dont know how to feel about this one, but Im sure the kid has a good stylist. He is wearing the other colorway, but check out the jacket we just received in the post below. For your viewing pleasure:
I am not quite sure what exactly they are promoting, selling, conveying, but hey its fun to see people’s reactions. Also, be sure to visit Mr Kim Says to see a day in the life of a man working on some amazing projects and who posses a great understanding of the industry. And he give you gems like this:
Take just one verse from this song and you will see the depth of Lupe’s work:
“and then it hit me, standin outside of heaven waitin for God to
come and get me. Im too uncouth, un-schooled to the rules and too gum-shoe
too much of a new comer and too un-cool like
Shadow and Lavelle, I battle wit it well”
…if you wiki DJ Shadow and Lavelle, you will see that they were a part of a group called U.N.K.L.E. (un-cool), and while both have achieved a good/great deal of success, they never quite fit in to a particular genre, much like it seems Lupe feels.
Spotted a post on the Motive 807 Blog recently and then again on the Cultura Fina blog. It looks like AT&T is increasingly trying to tap into the urban/streetwear scene and brought on board the help of some of the country’s best sneaker shops. Among the shops featured is Austin’s Motive 807, which sits with Alife Rivington Club, Undefeated LA, and Solebox Berlin. Read more HERE.
Also, did anyone notice the person driving the car when the scene opens up from Alife to Undefeated? It’s some guy driving a blue cardboard hatchback…priceless.
We don’t like to name drop or anything, but check out the shades ‘Born Again’ Lohan is sporting. Zoom in and you’ll see they are vintage Boeing aviators made by Carrera. If you were quick enough, you saw them in the shop a few months back, but, no worries, we found a few more and they are on their way…
We all know about the ubiquitous Urban Outfitters, but have you seen the new coolest spot coming to a town near you? Let me introduce Urban Counterfeiters. It sort of like the original Urban, but it’s been tweaked a little….totally different though.
For all you people who come in the shop asking if we have the ‘kanye’ glasses:
Here something from the accessories department. When a few years back one would be one pair of sunglasses every couple of years, we see these days people getting a new pair seasonal, depending on what is the latest out there.
Most of you should have seen these sunglasses in one of Kanye Wests recent videos, the Shutter Shades. Shutter Shades, offers now the sunglasses without glass in several bold colorways. Since they go for only 24.99 USD, its is a funny accessory to have! You can purchase them here.
Keep in mind that Kayne had his glasses custom made in France.
The real ‘people in the know’ know that while everyone at the VMAs was wearing ridiculous shutter shade knockoffs that were made of cardboard, Kanye was wearing some top secret shades that will be making their way to Centre in January of next year. We’ll keep you updated.
Hey, just got word that Sneaker Freaker added Centre to their Global Shopping Guide. If you aren’t already familiar with the original sneaker magazine published out of Australia, then check out their WEBSITE.
This is one of the most awful/great things I have seen in a long time:
Found this over on the site INQMND (Inquiring Minds) out of Canada. This is easily one of the best sites cataloging and contributing to the industry. The layout is impeccable, photography amazing and the content gets stronger by the day. You really owe yourself a trip to the site if you are at all interested in the type of products that Centre stocks or want to design a website.
Recently, they have released their Fall 2007 Buyers Buyble, which is chocked full of the latest stuff from brands like Stussy, Converse, Alife, Livestock, Nom de Guerre….
