October 21st, 2008 Music Genome Project :: Pandora.com

Like many of you, we heard rumblings about Pandora music service a while back. But for some reason, we never really caught on to the idea. Maybe it was the interface or the song selections, but we never found ourselves actually using it. Recently strolling through the internet, we found a fairly short clip of an interview with Tim Westergren, who was/is one of the founders of the Music Genome Project:


That got us back to the site, and, we have to say, it’s definitely gotten better. Create your own ’station’ and you will definitely hear a track that you had either forgotten about or your new favorite. This is definitely the future of listening to radio/music whatever. Look at what Apple is doing with their ‘genius’ playlists. Could you imagine if you could plug in all your attributes into any radio and it would start making a playlist for you? Good bye iPod. It’s like having your own robo Dj who is hooked into millions of songs and has broken them down by their hundreds of attributes. Sometimes you have to reprimand the computer for playing something wack, but it’s a glutton for punishment.
