September 11th, 2008 Magic :: The Vegas Saga Continues…

Well, when we LAST left off, we had just ended a long day roaming the trade floors of the SLATE booths at Magic and seen a few good people over at Pool. The next day it was an early rise and a quick taxi ride over to Project trade show at the Sands convention center (behind the Venetian).

Project is a show aimed at the more premium contemporary customer. You can find anything from women’s wear to sunglasses to denim to shoes. The show has absolutely blown up in the past few years and was recently bought by the same company that puts on Magic. It’s a much different vibe than the streetwear at Magic, and there are definitely some good sights:

Had a few appointments during the day and for the first one we hit up the guys from Creative Rec. Now let me say this: You think you like Creative Rec now…just wait for Spring. The brand has totally stepped up from being a mix-match of interesting colors into a collection, with colorway stories and new silhouettes that are really pushing the boundaries for independent footwear. We were totally floored and you will be too…

Meetings, meetings…

You are not going to believe the vintage shades we have coming for you.

You’ll always bump into some people you know…

…like the crew from Traffic….

…and the guys from The Brooklyn Circus. Their shop has come leaps and bounds in the past year with the opening of a new shop in San Fran and expansion on their home turf of Brooklyn.

You gotta try things on to find that perfect fit…

After about 5 hours of walking around, you realize that your feet are about to fall off. Thirty minutes after that, you decided that you need to get the hell out of Project and into some fresh air. Well, maybe the air wasnt fresh, but the boutique we next hit up was. If you haven’t heard of Fruition, then you owe it to yourself to check it out. They are considered to be the first and one of the only vintage streetwear shops out there. Now, we’re not talking Phat Farm, Roccawear and Fubu. We are talking stuff that you never knew still existed: Starter jackets, MCM leather goods, original Jordan Flight gear, deadstock Stussy and so much more. The shop is amazing and Samantha and the rest of the crew there are really on their game.

Then your feet are really, really tired and you know it’s time to kick your feet up at the hotel. We all jammed back to the MGM, grabbed some food and licked our war wounds. A few of us decided to go out and while we didnt get pictures of that, we did get to see the Vegas you never see…the empty one:

    […] Ahh…another post to hark back to our Vegas trip. If you haven’t had time to check out the Brooklyn Circus, then you need to visit the site now. These guys have evolved impressively over the years and now have two retail locations and are starting to produce some pretty stand-out private label products. Was flipping through their site and stumbled across this pic. If ever there was a billboard for the elevated urban consumer, it’s Spike Lee. The watch is ehhh, but the tee….nice. […]
