How do you go from that to playing Carlton on Fresh Prince? Apparently, some people have tried calling the number and have ordered some remaining pieces of the set…a true collector’s item.
The Summer line-up from everyone’s favorite, Free Gold Watch, has just hit the shelves here at Centre and is flying. We might not have enough time to photograph it all before it’s gone, so here are a few at just three of the eight or so new prints:
Found a really interesting site charting all sorts of found messages and drawings on currency from around the world. De-Noted is:
a blog to see what would happen if you release a question written on a bank note. There is no agenda, no manifesto, just an idea that started last time I went to pay for my breakfast. I handed over a five pound note, and saw a number scrawled across it. I can’t remember the number, it wasn’t important at the time, but it was important to someone else. Of course, it was presumably only important all the while they were counting the days takings in the shop, and tagging every 20th note so they wouldn’t lose count. But that number made me think, and this blog is the result of that. What if it wasn’t a number, but a question?
Whatever the case, it’s a great waste of time on a Friday looking at what other people do when they are killing time and cant find some paper. Plus, it’s always in good taste to make fun of political figures and dead people. Here are some of the better ones:
Don’t know if any of you follow the Onion (and if anyone from The Onion is reading this, please start distributing in Dallas, not matter how much money you would loose), but their ‘news’ clips are priceless. They are by far the most trusted fake news source in America, besting even the Daily Show. The video above is one of the more benign, as they take on some pretty heated topics with an extra side of sarcasm.
For those that have been asking for Supras, now’s your chance. We received two simple styles for the Summer: one white leather, and one black suede with croc emboss highlights. Also, because of demand, we picked up some women’s sizes (down to 6.5). Email us if you need to put a pair on hold.
Supra - Muska Skytop - White Leather ($115)
Supra - Muska Skytop - Black Suede w/ Croc Emboss ($105)
Geoff and the guys at Matrimoney have spent quite some time planning the launch of their clothing line. As regular patrons, we got to hear about the process from design to production. The guys have put together a really strong first collection that shows off some high-quality production (custom bodies on the tees, full cut and sew) and branding (they twist their logo on the back to match the story of the tee) at a great price. We are stocking 5 styles from the line you can check out below:
As promised after our last shipment, we have some more colors of Toms in stock. Two for men with the navy and black canvas and two for women including the Gandhi ‘Be the Change’ and coral polka dots. All styles feature their new outersole, more comfortable padded insole and retail for $48.
Toms Shoes - Coral Swing Polka Dots, Canvas ($48)
Toms Shoes - Gandhi Be the Change Text, Canvas ($48)
Antenna just dropped off some copies of their new Summer 2008 magazine. They usually go fast, so unless you want to pay $8 at Borders for one then head on down.
Don’t you always get annoyed when you can’t get that one smudge off your computer screen or the hair that fell behind the glass. Well, a friend showed us a really cool technique to clean just about anything, anywhere on your computer screen. Take a look for yourself HERE.
For those you who follow cycling (or have lived on planet earth within the past 10 years) know that Lance Armstrong has had nothing less than astounding career. That combined with the fact that he grew up in our beloved metroplex and now hangs his spurs in Austin, unless he is hanging with his dude-bro McConauhay in LA, makes this post relevant.
After taking on all comers in competative cycling for a while, you kind of run out of things to do. For Lance, with Nike dollars in hand, the natural progression was to open a shop in his surrogate home town to foster the sport. This shop has come to life in the form of Mellow Johnny’s.
“This city is exploding downtown. Are all these people in high rises going to drive everywhere? We have to promote (bike) commuting,” Armstrong said Wednesday, gazing up at the towering 360 condos rising next to the site of his new shop. “This can be a hub for that.”
(Click on this picture to see what a $15K bike looks like. And then order one HERE.)
“There’s a bigger ambition we’re going to go for here. It’s not like there’s not a good bike shop in town. We want to add something to the community that will catalyze interest around riding bikes, about being bike friendly and folding it into life in Austin,”
English artist Nick Walker is a prime example of street art’s recent acceptance by the world of fine art. With pieces by Walker and others now just as likely to be seen on gallery walls as roadside ones (Walker’s stencil paintings are even being sold by Bonhams at a forthcoming auction), Wooster Collective brings us a video showing the artist getting back to his roots on London’s Old Street. You can watch the full video of Walker at work and the reactions of passers by here.
Here are the first of a few new styles from Puma for the summer. First up is two releases from the ‘Tetris’ pack with the Disc Blaze and the First Round. We hinted about these back HERE, and now you can come see the alien shoe for yourself. Insanely comfortable, and you will never walk past a person in this town without them looking at your feet. If you think you can handle that, then get down to the shop because there are about 5 pair left as of today:
Puma - Disc Blaze 90 Tetris Pack ($110)
And the First Round:
Puma - First Round Tetris Pack ($95)
Next is a great silhouette you will be seeing alot in the upcoming seasons: the Unlimited Hi. We have just gotten two more colorways that will be up soon, but for right now here is the first women’s arrival:
After driving past the Wet’n'Wild or Hurricane Harbor or whatever it’s called these days, I got to thinking about the mad summer pool dash that will soon be here. I have no idea how you get started as a water slide stunt specialist, and I can barely figure out what the guy in the video is saying, but just check out the video:
