The first of the February releases has hit the shop and it’s a good one. This Dunk Hi Premium (317892 001) features just about the best construction we have seen from Nike in a while. Fully finished black leather and red mesh lining, crackle paint on the rear panels (like the HUF Quake pack). Even the footbeds got some attention with a nice screen print - and these have the Zoom air insole for added impact resistance. Top that off with an extra set of matching royal blue laces, and you got a nice package. Take a look for yourself (more pictures after the jump):

Entrepreneur Magazine had an article in their new issue looking at a what they see as a new breed of young entrepreneurs who’s aspirations push them to what they herald as the new mark of success: being a billionaire. For this, they tapped Mark Ecco as well as David Hitz. The article doesn’t really glean anything too in depth about the mind-set or personality of Ecco, but it’s worth a quick skim regardless of the fact that Ecco has produced some of the worst clothing we know as ’streetwear’.
“Back in the ’90s, the big goal for many entrepreneurs was to earn a million dollars. A million meant you had made it–you were not only thriving, you were rich. Alas, being a millionaire now just doesn’t have the same cachet. To reach the same level of prestige now, you need to be a billionaire. Once, that might have been a far-fetched dream for entrepreneurs. But today, it isn’t only global corporate kings who can luxuriate in such wealth and lead billion-dollar enterprises. Entrepreneurs are creating and running some of these wildly successful companies, too. You’ll meet two of them–Marc Ecko and David Hitz–in the following pages.
Marc Ecko once said he hoped people would think of him as Willy Wonka. It’s easy to see why, because Ecko brings a sense of edgy wonder to his work. As chief creative officer of Marc Ecko Enterprises and co-founder with his twin sister, Marci Tapper, 35, and business partner Seth Gerszberg, 36, Ecko presides over an empire of clothing and accessory lines, such as Ecko Unltd. and Zoo York, as well as a video game and multimedia division and a magazine.”
After a nice mention on the vintage sunglasses, it looks like our Nooka watches have attracted some attention from Daily Candy as well. If you have been through the shop, then you have probably seen the watches and then quickly asked how they tell time (don’t worry your not the first). Well come on down and we’ll give you a free tutorial on how to both read and wear the watch. That’s right, you heard it: free tutorial! Right now, we are putting together some charts explaining just how much exponentially cooler you will look wearing said watch, but those will be reserved for the advanced seminar.
In real news, we are expecting a shipment about mid-day with a plethora of colors to satisfy any palate.
Saw a TON of ads for these H&M tees up on my most recent NYC trip. The Timbaland one looks pretty played out, but the Justice piece is a fun play on the Tuxedo Tee concept. Participating artists include Rihanna, Chicks on Speed, Good Charlotte, Henrik Vibskov, Jade Jagger, Justice, Katharine Hamnett, My Chemical Romance, Rufus Wainwright, Scissor Sisters, The Cardigans, Tiga, Timbaland and Ziggy Marley. Doesn’t it give you that warm fuzzy feeling?
‘This month H&M launches their Fashion Against Aids initiative. They have worked with designers, musicians and artists on a series of t-shirts to promote a good cause. The collection will be launched at H&M stores on January 31rst. colette will preview the line a couple of days before that. Here above the t-shirts by Timbaland and Justice.’
I guess that in addition to the bag, you can get yourself a silk Longchamp robe:
“Here’s a little behind-the-scenes shot of Lindsay Lohan on the set for her upcoming PAPER cover, photographed by fashion designer Jeremy Scott (pictured next to her). You may recall seeing this dynamic duo together when they stopped by PAPER’s 24-Hour Department Store in L.A. this past November. How gorgeous does Lindsay look? We shot the cover at the W Hotel Westwood and hate to disappoint anyone looking for dirt, but Lindsay was on time and a total pussycat. Wait till you see the Patricia Neal-in-The-Fountainhead-inspired shots photographed at a nearby construction site. They’re not like anything Lindsay has ever done!!!!!”
The folks over at Antenna magazine sent us a box of the most recent edition of their great publication. If you aren’t familiar with their work, then you owe it to yourself to get down to the shop and pick up a copy (or hit up your local Barnes & Noble). In a really short time they have established themselves (as they put it):
“…the first mainstream magazine to target individuals who are on a constant quest for the newest and coolest products on the horizon. And it does so without using celebrities, models, concept shoots, service stories and whatever else we deem superfluous to our mission: to become a guidebook, allowing readers to navigate the most extensive collection of products ever compiled in a single publication, while championing the people who create, sell and collect them—all in one comprehensive, artful, elegant and innovative format. Featuring everything from dress shirts and cellphones to jeans and graphic T’s, Antenna is considered to be a non-disposable magazine in a disposable world. And you cannot ask for more than that.”
Just make sure you get down here fast cause after sending us 30 copies were are down to a handful…
***UPDATE: The shoes arrived 2/12. You can find out more and see pics HERE. Phone orders are welcome at 214.821.2028 or info (at) gotocentre.com***
Soon enough, my friends, these and several other Skytops will be stopping by Centre. Stay tuned for details.
“The Chad Muska Pro Model, Supra Skytop Comakazi, is shipping to stores this week and should be out by the end of the week. The uppwe mixing black suede, red leather and a zebra pattern is certainly not going to be missed by anyone!”
“Jeremy Scott got together for the second time with French bag company Longchamp. Once again they collaborate on the classic Longchamp folding bag. This time it comes with a new footprint design. The bag is now available for 175 Euros in the Colette online store.”
Wouldn’t mind seeing some of these around Dallas. Anyone?
Above is a new bit that has been shot to showcase Pharrell’s new jewelry line for Louis Vuitton dubbed ‘Blason’. After hearing about this for quite some time and knowing the resources of both the artist and the fashion house, the pieces seem to fall a little short. What do you guys think?
About two weeks ago, the folks at Daily Candy were nice enough to feature Centre for our selection of vintage shades. If you don’t subscribe, then you can check out the article HERE. Go ahead and subscribe, you might not like all the products, announcements, etc. but every once in a while you’ll stumble across something really cool.
Don’t follow The Hundreds site too closely, but I really like their Photobooth section of the page. Check it out and see if you can spot someone you know. Looks like Mos Def rolled through recently:
Selected as one of Time Magazine’s Top 100 Design Influencers, The Sartorialist , is a great photo/fashion blog comprised of some inspirational fashion pics from around the globe. The blog was founded, as the creator put it:
…simply to share photos of people that I saw on the streets of New York that I thought looked great. When I worked in the fashion industry (15 years), I always felt that there was a disconnect between what I was selling in the showroom and what I was seeing real people (really cool people) wearing in real life…
…My only strategy when I began The Sartorialist was to try and shoot style in a way that I knew most designers hunted for inspiration. Rarely do they look at the whole outfit as a yes or no but they try and look for the abstract concepts of color, proportion, pattern mixing or mixed genres.
The blog has really evolved in such a short time that his work includes a monthly article in GQ as well as guest blogs on Style.com. Here is just a tiny sampling of the pics:
…this sneak peek of a Vans Finger Fracture Skateboarding game for iPhone is real? Spotted over at the trendwatch - you can rate and view the project at NewCreatives, art direction by David Aronson & Juri Zaech for agency: Miami Ad Shool Europe.
You know how every time you really need a check to clear or a letter to post it’s a federal holiday? Well, tomorrow is one of those days (MLK day if you cared to know). We are going to be annoying and shut our doors on an otherwise normal Monday too. The good news? We will have some exciting posts over the next few weeks detailing our trip to NYC, roaming the streets and trade shows looking for inspiration and the clothes you might just be wearing next fall.
I came across a really cool, short spec on Belgian event producers Villa Eugénie. With a client list consisting of Chanel, Dries Van Noten, Miu Miu, Maison Martin Margiela, Lanvin, Hermès, Hugo Bosss, Sonia Rykiel, Olivier Strelli, and Y-3 just to name a few, you know these guys mean business. You know that when you are hired any of those clients your product delivery is going to be scrutinized by some of the sharpest eyes on the planet. I can’t even imagine the attention to detail required to produce this caliber of event. Anyway, enjoy:
Best known for its catwalk extravaganzas, Villa Eugénie is now involved in not just creating spectacular fashion shows, but staging major events for luxury business in all of its forms - magazine launches, major celebrations, and jewellery, perfume, art and opera installations, corporate events and fairs around the world. The team also advises major fashion brands on store concepts, stores space searches, lighting and branding. Although based in Brussels, Villa Eugénie operates in all major fashion and luxury centers and has a permanent office also in Miami.
Russo started humbly in the 1980s as an artistic and creative barman at Mirano, a fashionable nightclub in Brussels. He was soon creating major events there and drawing serious attention. His first real fashion client was Dries Van Noten for whom he worked as a model, salesman, lighting engineer, cook and extraordinary producer of Van Noten’s first fashion show in Paris in 1991.
