A few days ago we wrote a post alluding to some projects set to release in March and even included a small grab of the product to tie into a project we have been really happy to work on. Basically, about 6 weeks ago, we sat down with two VERY motivated locals who share a passion for bikes. Some months ago they had an itching to do something cool marrying Austin's annual SXSW event with...bikes.
...Well, they must have been pretty inspired at that moment, because it was then that they hatched the idea to RIDE FIXED GEAR BIKES DOWN TO AUSTIN. Yeah, that deserves all caps.
So, loving a good challenge, Hance and Philip got to work putting them in touch with some good people and putting some ideas in their heads. It's safe to say that this project is a little in left field for us at Centre, but we really loved the enthusiam, hard-work and inspiration behind the project, so we went out on a limb. And though we are not heading up the project, we decided it would be cool to put together a custom 'kit' for the riders as they crank it out Southbound for 240 miles over three days, ending in a much deserved party in Austin at the opening of the expo.
You can find details about the ride and the participants (at last count 16 people had decided they wanted to punish themselves that much) on their website and numerous mentions around the web, but we wanted to take a second to show you a product being made exclusively for this event. After seeing the riders jersey, more than a few people commented that they wanted one for themselves. We wanted to keep the riders jersey special (they are doing to earn them with that ride!), so we flipped the colors and moved a few things around.
What you see below is a design for a fully sublimated, fully custom, 3/4 zip, short sleeve cycling jersey available for sale.
They jerseys will retail for $85 and will be printed to order - meaning we are going to print ONLY what we pre-sell. The cut-off date for pre-orders is March 15th and we expect to have the jersey ready to ship out about three weeks afterwards in mid-April.
